Our Process
Initial Contact By Phone or Email
Paul Kuzma will have a conversation with you to get a general idea if our company would be a good fit for you. Some general discussion of your house type and condition, schedule, and budget is helpful to see if an in-home meeting should be the next step.
Initial Consultation
Paul Kuzma will meet with you to explain how the extended design and construction process works, but most importantly to listen to your space, design, schedule, and budget needs. With over thirty years of experience, Paul may be able to share some information about a similar project we’ve completed or catch a glimpse of unique opportunities for your home. We will agree to a next step from this meeting or agree to not continue if there doesn’t seem to be a fit.
Preliminary Design Phase
If you decide to further explore the project with us, a second meeting with Paul and possibly a design associate would be scheduled at your home. This meeting provides a chance to get acquainted with the designer, if applicable, and for us to firm up the budget and scope of the project.
From this meeting a preliminary design agreement would be drawn up and agreed to by both parties. This agreement would be based upon an understood scope of the project and budget range. Floor plans and elevations with necessary revisions depicting the scope of the project would be developed; pricing and a written scope of work with specifications and allowances; and a final presentation of the developed project to the homeowner by Paul Kuzma would complete the preliminary design phase.
Construction Contract
A construction contract will be drawn up based upon the preliminary design and specifications and allowances. It will include permit plans and permit fees and all labor and material to complete the project, time of completion, and warrantees.
Construction Phase
The construction phase includes a pre-construction meeting with Paul and lead carpenter for the project, periodic meetings with Paul and lead to review progress and anticipate upcoming activities and selections, a construction schedule with red flagged dates for activities like appliances must be selected by or date for client to vacate a certain space, open lines of communication especially via e-mail, generation and quick completion of punch list at the end of the project, and a follow-up visit eleven months after the completion of the project.
Future
We may request an opportunity to photograph your project and will work to keep you as a valued client for future projects of yours and those you care about. We are always available to answer questions or address concerns for all of our clients.
